LED products compete rapidly in the lighting market

According to surveys, there is currently a complete range of indoor LED lighting fixtures in China. Commercial LED bulbs, fluorescent lamps, tube lamps, spotlights and other lighting fixtures have already been introduced. Compared with LED products reported by foreign manufacturers, LED lighting products currently have certain advantages in terms of cost-effectiveness.

Although there have been cases of LED lights replacing traditional lighting fixtures. The huge market for indoor lighting has attracted the attention of LED companies. Many companies are confident in the LED indoor lighting application market. There are many indoor lighting venues, and different segmented markets often have different requirements for lighting fixtures. The reporter interviewed some industry experts and companies, hoping for more opinions from everyone.

How LED products enter the indoor lighting market

Professor Fang Zhilie from Fudan University believes that the development of application products should start from the advantages of LED. The characteristics of LED, such as energy saving, environmental protection, long lifespan, and easy dimming, are incomparable to traditional light sources. For example, incandescent lamps and halogen lamps have good color rendering but low efficiency; Low pressure sodium lamps have high efficiency but poor color rendering. LED lighting products can address the shortcomings of traditional lighting sources by utilizing the single or multiple advantages of LED to develop many new lighting fixtures that are superior to traditional lighting products.

Professor Fang believes that as a lighting source, the basis for judging market launch can refer to the important parameter of lighting cost. People generally only pay attention to the initial cost of the light source, while ignoring the efficiency, lifespan, maintenance, and replacement costs of the light source. LED light sources are superior to traditional light sources. But in the short term, high-end products are still mainly focused on the foreign market.

Chairman Zhou Ming of Nanjing Henderson Technology Co., Ltd. believes that in recent years, with the rapid improvement of LED efficiency and the rapid decline of costs, its advantages in the total cost of ownership of indoor lighting have also begun to emerge. However, in terms of indoor general lighting, LED light sources are not enough to shake the dominant position of traditional light sources such as compact fluorescent lamps, straight tube fluorescent lamps, and metal halide lamps. This is mainly because the unit lumen cost of purchasing LED lamps for the first time is still relatively high. Currently, the cost of LED lamps for indoor lighting is still as high as 0.10-0.15 yuan/lumen, which is about 3-5 times the cost of traditional light source lamps, and the price is still a threshold. Additionally, there is a need to address issues related to color rendering.

In the direction of LED lighting product development, Chairman Zhou Ming believes that it is advisable to highlight the replacement of inefficient light sources such as incandescent lamps and halogen lamps, as well as their lighting products. It is not advisable to rush into large-scale replacement of high-efficiency light sources and their lighting products such as straight tube fluorescent lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, and metal halide lamps. Nowadays, customers have a high recognition of LED tube lights, LED spotlights, and LED bulb lights in the market, mainly used in the commercial lighting field. With the current cost-effectiveness and initial purchase cost of LED lamps, it will take 3-5 years before they can be widely used in households.

Japanese LED manufacturers are vaguely ahead

Recently, Japanese media reported that in June 2009, Sharp launched LED bulbs priced at around 4000 yen. In December of the same year, Japan's Orion Electric launched a product that consumes 6.6W, has a total luminous flux of 420lm, and is equivalent to 60W incandescent bulbs, priced at 2480 yen (including tax); This price is already close to the domestic price of energy-saving lamps in Japan, indicating that Japanese LED manufacturers are accelerating their pace of cost reduction and performance improvement. The target value for cost reduction by Japanese manufacturers is to reduce it to 0.5 yen/lm by 2011. The current cost is 1-1.5 yen/lm.

Japan has implemented economic policies to promote the popularization of LED light bulbs through the reform of the environmental protection credit system. It is expected to use a budget of 268.310 billion yen to support the LED lighting industry, promote the popularization of LED light bulbs, and encourage LED lighting fixtures to replace incandescent and energy-saving lamps. Major electronics manufacturers have successively released new products of LED light bulbs. Through statistics, it was found that the brightness of each product release increases, and the number of varieties continues to increase.
